Presenter Biography:

An honors graduate from the Combined Degree BA-DDS program at New York University, Dr. Josh Gindea has been in dental private practice in New York City for more than 3 decades. With three practices, Dr. Gindea and his partners have been able to combine their professional skills with their business acumen to create a very successful business model.  In addition to his dental practices, Dr. Gindea has been involved in three health industry businesses over the past three decades. In the 1990’s Josh and his partners founded Westchester Dental Products, a dental supply company that was able to provide its clientele with outstanding pricing and service. Course Title:  HIPAA Developments and Requirements

Course Description:

In addition to serving the needs of their patients, healthcare providers and their business associates are required to comply with a navigate through the complex web of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and state privacy laws which govern patient medical information.  HIPAA is a complicated regulatory scheme with many requirements that must be met not only by the practitioner, but also by staff and business associates of the practitioner.  HIPAA compliance requires regular training and the establishment of strict internal rules and regulations concerning patient information.  Non-compliant covered entities may be subject to audits, massive fines and, in some cases, personal liability – even for inadvertent non-compliance.  Andrew P. Nitkewicz will provide practical information on state privacy laws and up-to-date HIPAA developments and requirements.
