Course Title:  Digital Dentures

Presenter: Dr. Jean Furuyama

Course Time: 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM EST

Course Description:

Many dentists dislike doing dentures because they are unpredictable and unprofitable.  This course will cover how to take impressions, centric relation, and vertical dimension at the first visit and will show you how much easier and more profitable digital dentures are.  Computer generated occlusal schemes and space age plastics make it possible to produce dentures with thinner palates, better fit and far fewer post insertion visits.  Learning how easy digital dentures can be will change your mind about offering this service and not only will your patients appreciate it but so will your bottom line.

Learning Objectives:

  1. What are digital dentures and why are they not just easier but better than conventional dentures.
  2. How to take excellent impressions.
  3. How to take Centric, Vertical Dimension, and all the necessary records in the first visit.
  4. How digital dentures can make your practice more profitable and a lot more fun.

Presenter Biography:

Jean Gaffney Furuyama graduated from NYUCD where she was awarded the prize for out standing woman student.  After a general practice residency at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, she opened her practice from scratch in 1981 and was, until March, 2010 the sole owner of a high tech, fee for service group practice in Manhattan, NY.  Active in the NY Dental Society, she has served on the peer review committee for several years, is a past member of the Board of Directors of the NY County component, and a ten year member of the NYS Board of Dentistry. She is past national president of the American Association of Women Dentists, and an active member the Academy of General Dentistry, and a Vice President of the American Association for the Study of Orthodontics.   She is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, as well as two honorary societies:  The Academy of Dentistry International and the American College of Dentists.  Dr. Furuyama has lectured at the Chicago Midwinter, the Greater New York, the Greater Long Island, and on line for Dentaltown.  She is proud to be the first owner of the Biolase laser in Manhattan.  Her passion is high tech dentistry and she is a strong supporter of general dentists being able to practice beyond the scope of just “drilling and filling”.    After the sale of her general practice in 2010, Dr. Furuyama now limits her practice to dentures and orthodontics.  She is also a consultant for a Japanese chemical company, Mitsui Chemical, Inc., and their wholly owned subsidiary Whole You.  She was involved with conducting the beta testing for their new cad cam denture that uses Dentca’s design technology and is called Nexteeth by Whole You.
