Program Description:

This event will provide new residents / dentists with the practice management knowledge and training that is essential to operating a successful practice followed up by an evening casino night party that will include dinner, drinks, music, and casino games with hundreds of dollars in raffle prizes.

 

 

Course Title:  Intro to Electronic Submission of Dental Claims 

Presenter: Drs. James Kouzoukian & Hemali Ajmera

Course Time: 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM EST

Course Description:

In our age of high overhead expenses, dental practices must operate more efficiently.  To that end, an introduction to the availability of Online Electronic Claim Submission to Insurance Companies, Labor Union and other Third Party Payers is being presented and discussed to speed payment and prior determination needs of practitioners.

Attendees will learn:

  1. What Online Electronic Claim Submission Services are Available;
  2. Which of Those Services are Free;
  3. How to Navigate the Available Services;
  4. How to Maximize Benefit to your Practice; and
  5. How to Maximize Benefit to your Patient.

Presenter Biography:

Dr. James Kouzoukian is a 1984 graduate of New York University College of Dentistry.  He has extensive experience as an expert witness in Dental-Legal matters, having worked with attorneys in such matters since 1987.  Dr. Kouzoukian is a nationally recognized speaker and has presented seminars on TMJ Dysfunction, 2D and 3D Digital Radiographic Imaging and Oral Hygiene for Aegis Communications CDE World nationwide events, The World’s Fair of Dentistry, Greater New York Dental Meeting, Connecticut State Dental Association and many ADA component dental societies and study groups. Dr. Kouzoukian has also presented live worldwide webinars on Digital Imaging and Oral Hygiene and their related Standard of Care issues.  Dr. Kouzoukian is a published author upon the topics of digital radiography and government regulatory issues with regard to sharing of protected health information.  He will once again be touring with Aegis Communications CDE World in 2018 presenting a new seminar on Standard of Care in CBCT Imaging.  Dr. Kouzoukian continues to be a major nationwide speaker on various topics in dentistry and he is pleased to co-present this new topic of Online Electronic Claim Submission for the Queens County Dental Society.

Dr. Hemali Ajmera is the new Historian of the Queens County Dental Society.  Dr. Ajmera is a native New Yorker, born in Queens and a graduate of the prestigious Bronx High School of Science. She is a member of the ADA and the New York State Dental Association.  She attended New York University’s Accelerated 7 Year B.A.-D.D.S. Program. Dr. Ajmera completed her general practice residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in 2009.  She is practicing general dentistry in the New York City Metro area in two family -owned and operated private practices. Dr. Ajmera is chairwoman of the New York state Dental Association New Dentist Committee through which she is able to promote camaraderie and education to dental students, residents and new dentists.

 

 

 Course Title:  Starting a Practice vs. Buying a Practice. What’s Right for me?

Course Description:

This program educates dentists on what it takes to prepare themselves for practice ownership and provides information on what it takes to either purchase a practice or start one from scratch.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how early planning can lead to a successful practice
  • Determine whether to purchase an existing dental practice or start a new one
  • Understand practice financing options and develop a business plan

Presenter Biographies:

Chad Widensky is a Vice President for Practice Solutions, Bank of America’s healthcare financing division.  Chad joined Bank of America in 2009 as a financing specialist for dental practice and commercial real estate acquisitions in New York and New Jersey.  He has been involved in hundreds of transactions over the course of his tenure with Bank of America.  Chad has repeatedly been recognized for superior service and commitment to his work.  Most recently Chad was recognized as Practice Solutions Top Healthcare Lending Specialist for 2014 and 2015 and as a member of Bank of America’s 2014 and 2015 Pinnacle Club.

Robert joined the Practice Solutions line of business in March 2013 as an Area Manager covering New York and New Jersey.  In 2014 Robert was promoted to Vice President for Practice Solutions in the New York territory and services Dental clients seeking financing for projects, equipment, and commercial real estate. Prior to  his current position in Bank of America Practice Solutions, Robert enjoyed a 8  year career working in the dental market- working with the two largest dental companies in North America.

 

 

Course Title:  Financial Kick Start for Young/New Dentists

Presenter: Boyan Doytchinov, CFP®, CFA

Course Description:

Altfest Personal Wealth Management®, the endorsed investment management and financial planning firm by the Queens County Dental Society and New York State Dental Association, will be hosting an event for young/new dentists on how to prioritize and organize your finances. We understand that you may have many priorities to juggle, including paying off student loans, starting a practice, and saving for the future. Our goal in this seminar will be to provide you with valuable insights into how you can plan for your immediate and long-term goals.

Key areas discussed in this presentation will include: 

  • Managing debt and choosing the right student loan repayment plan
  • Budgeting and cash flow management
  • Constructing an investment portfolio that’s “right” for you
  • Saving for retirement and other long-term goals

Presenter Biography:

As a Financial Advisor, Boyan works with new and existing clients on account implementations and portfolio management maintaining the target risk-return profile. He also helps clients understand recommendations and important financial decisions so that they stay on track to meet their financial goals. In addition, Boyan assists the investment committee by researching investment opportunities when market conditions change. Boyan also serves on the Young Professionals team specializing in financial planning and investment management for young dentists and young physicians.

Prior to joining Altfest, Boyan was a portfolio analyst for Mark J. Snyder and Associates, an independent advisory firm in Long Island. He researched stocks, mutual funds and other managed investments while also helping guide the firm’s overall portfolio management strategy. Boyan also worked with clients on retirement planning and other long term financial goals.

Boyan earned a BA in Economics and an MBA in Finance from Stony Brook University. He was president of the MBA Association and captain of the team representing the College of Business in the New York Society of Security Analysts investment research challenge where the team was ranked in the final four.  Boyan holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designations.

Jennifer Kirschenbaum manages Kirschenbaum & Kirschenbaum, P.C.’s healthcare department and regularly counsels healthcare practitioners in regulatory compliance, transactional, audit defense, licensure, litigation and general practice management matters.
