Course Description:

What ever happened to the filling? The plain ole posterior composite where did it go? For the last ten years or so it has been lapped by all the en vogue dentistry; for example…porcelain crowns, CAD-CAM, digital impressions, going chartless.

It seems no one is lecturing on posterior composites. It seems there aren’t any articles written about them, there are no study clubs about them, there aren’t even any blogs about them. So if no one is talking about them then it almost seems like they are fading away.

I just don’t think they are sexy enough. And if it isn’t sexy enough then it starts to get put further and further back on the shelf. Companies stop advertising to dentists about the filling and the last thing that happens is dentists start leaving them off the treatment plans and stop doing them altogether.

Well in this lecture I am bringing sexy back to the filling. Yeah, the same filling that was the first thing that you learned in dental school. Yeah, the filling that you use to do all the time but might have gone away from. The filling, that when you see it on the schedule you are very ho hum about.

But there will be nothing ho hum about fillings after this lecture. Dr. Gammichia is a dentist that loves to do fillings. Ever since he saw his first CE course by Ray Bertolotti in 1995 he has loved the posterior composite. Dr. Gammichia is passionate about posterior composites and can’t wait to teach the audience how to make a restored tooth look just like a natural tooth.

This lecture can possibly revolutionize some practices. Imagine “wowing” every one of your restorative patients. Imagine your patients thrilled when they leave your office. Their excitement starts to rub off on you and the next thing you know you are excited about doing fillings.

And you get even more excited because you realize you are making money doing something that is “wowing” your patients.

This is a lecture that will bring instant gratification. The audience will learn things that they can bring back to their office and implement immediately.

Dr. Gammichia has put together a lecture that is technologically advanced but is easy to understand. Through his lecture, Dr. Gammichia will try to convey passion and pride to all the members of the audience (which can only be a plus to all their patients).

The lecture will walk the audience through the steps to creating a posterior composite, from what burs to use to adhesives to the resin to the finishing.

Presenter Biography:

John Gammichia, DMD, FAGD is a 1995 graduate of the University of Florida College of Dentistry. Since graduation he has been in private practice, with his father in, Orlando, FL. During his career he has been to over 1500 CE hours but what shaped him into what his is today is the 5 continuums and a special studies course at the LD Pankey Institute.  But at the five year mark of his career he was ready to quit. He was miserable doing something that he worked his whole life for. So after he pulled himself up by the bootstraps he decided he didn’t want this to happen to any other young dentist. From this his first lecture series was created, What You Need to Know About the First Five Years of Practice. He felt being a young dentist himself, it gave him credibility. He published articles in Dental Practice Reports, Dental Economics, Dental Money Digest, Mentor Magazine, Dental Entrepreneur, New Dentist Magazine, and the Pankeygram. He took the lecture on the speaking tour and spoke all over the country, the pinnacle being the Chicago Mid-Winter and the AGD annual meeting.  Although a passion for Dr. Gammichia, speaking got to be too hard with a budding practice and a multiplying family. He begrudgingly put it on hold. He couldn’t stay away from talking to other dentists. From 2004 to 2008 he was on the Communication Council for the AGD. And one of the topics that kept coming up, as the next great thing, was social media. In 2008 he became the official blogger for the AGD. The Daily Grind gives him a chance to be in community with other dentists at least two times a week. The blog has been voted one of the top dental blogs with over a 1000 readers a week. Now, with things on cruise control at the office and at the house, he is back, and loving every minute of it.
