Course Title:  Providing Effective Feedback to Staff: Using the STEER Methodology

Course Description:

What if you could find better ways to get your staff to act with more proficiency? The results for your business would be significant. More satisfied patients. Happier co-workers. And, you would be relieved of some sources of stress. This presentation on providing feedback in the workplace suggests tools that you can use to give more effective feedback to your staff. STEER is an acronym that represents five main principles of feedback: specificity, timing, explanation, emotion, and reinforcement.

Learning Objectives:

  • Articulate your feedback commentary with more specificity
  • Use better timing when you deliver feedback
  • Offer convincing explanations for changing behavior
  • Attend to your emotional experience and theirs
  • Reinforce feedback so that it sticks

Presenter Biographies:

Matthew Siegel is an executive coach and owner of Matthew Siegel Consulting LLC. Matt fosters active learning through collaborative relationships in which enhanced self-awareness and skill lead to goal oriented behavior change. He has helped many professionals improve their performance and productivity in fields such as banking, technology, non-profit, media, government, and healthcare. Matt uses his professional training and practice in behavioral science to achieve desired results. He has a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.

 

 

Course Title:  Restoration of the Endodontically Treated Tooth: It’s Not Dead!

Presenter: Dr. James Kouzoukian

Course Description:

Endodontically treated teeth pose a unique restorative challenge due to their characteristics which include large areas of missing and excavated tooth structure, presumably due to caries or sizeable pre-existing restoratives, and brittle condition, due to loss of internal blood supply.  This seminar will address these factors while emphasizing function and longevity of the resulting restoration for the benefit and satisfaction of the patient.

Presenter Biographies:

Dr. James G. Kouzoukian is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry having received his DDS degree in 1984.  He has extensive experience as an expert witness in Dental-Legal matters, having worked with attorneys in such matters since 1987.  Dr. Kouzoukian has presented seminars on TMJ Dysfunction, Digital Imaging and Oral Hygiene and has completed a group of ten presentations for Aegis Communications for whom he lectured nationwide in 2014 and 2015.  He has recently completed presenting nine live nationwide seminars on 3D Radiographic Imaging as it relates to the Standard of Care in 2018.  He has presented a seminar on Digital Imaging, Diagnostics, Standard of Care Issues and HIPAA regulations at the 2016 World’s Fair of Dentistry (presented by the Queens County Dental Society) and a seminar on The New Standard of Care in Oral Hygiene at the 2017 World’s Fair of Dentistry.  Dr. Kouzoukian has also presented a live worldwide webinar on Digital Imaging and Standard of Care issues for Viva Learning in October, 2014 and he has presented more webinars on Oral Hygiene in 2018 for Aegis Communications’ CDE World and Curaden Campus of Switzerland.  His extensive lecture series has included many local study groups and he had the distinct honor of presenting to the Long Island Dental Hygienists Association in 2018.  Dr. Kouzoukian has had an article he authored on Electronic Communications and Records Sharing published in the May 2015 issue of the Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry.  He has also been published in the April, 2014 issue of Inside Dentistry on the topic of Digital Radiography technology.  Dr. Kouzoukian is an active member of the Board of Trustees and the Institute for Continuing Dental Education at the Queens County Dental Society.
