Course Description:
Implants have become an integral part of everyday practice, but can we still save teeth? Are there alternatives to treat the failing dentition? This lecture aims to discuss the pros/cons of implant dentistry, as well as traditional treatment modalities (ie. Periodontics, prosthodontics & endodontics) that may be utilized to save natural teeth predictably.
- Definining “success” in implant dentistry
- Considerations on when to extract and when to treat
- Periodontal surgery, guided tissue regeneration, and semi-permanent stabilization
- Root amputation
- Endododontic surgery
- Comparisons and treatment considerations
Course Objectives:
Objective of this lecture is to review time-tested traditional modalities for the treatment of failing dentition. Participants who successfully complete this seminar will receive a certificate of completion and two (2) CE credits with the NYSDA Continuing Education Registry.
Presenter Biography:
Dr. Albert Yoo completed his pre-doctoral training at Stony Brook University’s School of Dental Medicine. He then went on to obtain his periodontal certificate there as well. He has been in private practice, specializing on periodontics and implant surgery since 2008. He has held teaching positions in Newark Beth Israel Hospital and New York Hospital of Queens. He is currently a clinical assistant professor at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. He leads a yearly international dental mission trip to the island of Jamaica and currently maintains a practice in Bayside, NY.
