Course Description:

Dental professionals and staff are subjected to a great deal of stress, abnormal postures, repetitive motions and forceful exertions during the course of their day. This often results in pain, limited mobility, fatigue, headaches, and potential injury. Yogic practice can avoid all these consequences.

Yoga means union–a union of body, mind, and spirit. Pause, Breathe, Stretch and Move to create a union of healthy body, peaceful mind and happy heart. Yogic stress- relieving techniques can be performed on or off the yoga mat, at home, in the office, or standing or sitting in a chair. Movements can be modified to accommodate all ages, body types and experience levels.

Come experience an evidenced based integrated body-mind practice. Explore and tap into tools and techniques to create health, vitality, calm and quiet amid a busy lifestyle.

Course Objectives:

Workshop participants will learn how to:

–Empower health professionals to “self-care” in order to interrupt patterns of burnout, sleep deprivation, or relationship disharmonies and to reduce anxiety in patients.

–Use basic Breathing Techniques (Pranayama) to completely oxygenate the blood, release tension in the chest and abdomen, improve digestion and create vitality and energy in the body. These techniques–which can be done in the office– calm the mind, create mental clarity and focus,

–Use simple stretches, moves and postures (asanas) to release tension, relieve aches and pains and increase flexibility and fluidity in the joints. These techniques are particularly effective for dental professionals who have joint, spine, carpel-tunnel, TMJ issues.

–Use mediation for stress-management, emotional and mental stability–which is critical for clarity in decision making, and peace of mind–which is critical for effective communication and relationships.
